I am a Vegetarian. Am I getting the right nutrients!?

Vegetarian and/or Vegans may want to explore certain options when supplementing their diet. Certain nutrients are commonly missed in their diets. Vegetarians should ensure not to miss the following:

  • Calcium

Proportion: Ensure that you get a supplement with enough elemental calcium so as to meet your rda (1000mg per day). Calcium supplements may often feature other nutrients alongside the calcium, such as magnesium, which can help its absorption.

Absorbtion: There exists mainly two forms of calcium: calcium citrate and calcium carbonate. Calcium carbonate contains more elemental calcium, but is not as readily absorbed by the human body as calcium citrate. You may opt for calcium citrate products when buying calcium supplements without magnesium.
